UPDATED: Changed the review to 5 stars because I didn't notice that two collars were actually included with the trap bar. I realized the collars were taped up to the end of the packaging and only noticed them when I was throwing away the box it came in. The provided collars fit the bar perfectly and hold everything securely. So far this trap bar has been working perfectly fine so long as you get the provided collars. Sorry for the confusion.

First off the overall design, weight and construction of this trap bar is excellent. The handles have nice deep grooved knurls which help with a firm grip whether using bare hands or gloves or straps. The folding handles are a nice touch for slight height variations. It's really hard to find trap bars that are designed for standard one inch plates. Here's the issue though, this bar (at least the one I received) isn't exactly an inch...it is slightly smaller than that. What that entails is the bar accepts standard weights without issue but the metal collars I have and been using for years just slide along the bar ends with ease. I've uploaded a video to demonstrate the issue comparing the collars to my standard one inch barbell I've had for years. The good thing for me at least is that I'm only using this trap bar for shrugs and some deadlifts so I don't technically need to use the collars, however I'd prefer that I didn't have to have this issue at all especially considering that it is a rather expensive bar to begin with. I'm not sure if all the trap bars this company makes have the issue I have but I just wanted to share my experience should this become an issue with your purchase.

At first I gave the product 3 stars because the spring collars that came with it were lose. However I easily got better collars at a local exercise equipment store so it wasn't much of a problem. The bar itself is excellent.

I love doing deadlifts with this thing. Very heavy duty. Quality. This is my first trap bar (none of the gyms I’ve been to have had them). But now I can deadlift with decreased risk to my lower back. I love the way that exercise feels! The rotating handles are what sets this bar apart— makes it easier to store against a wall and adds a bit of comfort on your grip and shoulders while performing there w deadlift. Super pleased with my choice, as there are a lot of trap bars out there.

Someone mentioned “rust”. Mine came with this weird coating of brownish, red iron dust all over the product and the bar. Could have been rust, I’m not sure, but it wiped off easily with a damp paper towel and hasn’t returned. Honestly it might bed be some type of protective coating so it doesn’t rust during shipment. Who knows. There also was a small, pointy bleb of metal sticking out on the handle that I intend to file off, but haven’t yet.

I also saw someone wonder if it’s good foot tall people. I’m 6’0 and there’s no spacing issue at all.

The worst thing about this is it came with an ad to download an app and enter your bank account info to enter a drawing. Looked for the app, was obviously not reputable, and it felt very scammy. Not sure what to think of it other than it has nothing to do with the great bar, so I won’t dock a star for that.

Not a perfect product, but almost perfect, hence the five stars.

Due to COVID, my son wasn’t able to go to the gym to prepare for lacrosse season. He was dying to lift, so we put together a little gym in our basement. We got him the basics for Christmas, like a bench, rack and olympic weight set, but of course he “needed” more weights and bars. We’re making him buy the rest, so he’s been slowing adding gear as he gets the money. He was thrilled when he finally had enough to buy this Hex bar. It’s a great addition to the gym. This is an extremely sturdy bar that's well fabricated with clean, strong welds. The frame is heavy duty steel with a chrome finish. The finish is well done with no bubbles or chipping. I weighed the bar on my bathroom scale and it came in right around 41 pounds. The bars for the weights are made for 2 inch Olympic weight plates. It comes with 2 spring clips to keep the plates secured onto the bar. They are easy to use and fit the bar perfectly. There are 2 separate handles that you can use when lifting. There are foldable handles and handles on the bar, both of which are textured for a better grip. My son really likes that the handles fold in, so he can store it in his bar rack. I really like that the Hex bar is made to help reduce injury, especially of the spine. For teenage boys, it's not always about doing things the right way, but seeing how much weight they can lift, even if it hurts them. 🤦♀️ The bar is rated to hold up to 800 pounds, but they've only got up to around 400 pounds so far. It's working great and holding up nicely. This is a solid, well made piece of equipment that has exceeded our expectations.

It's very sturdy, fits perfectly with our Olympic bumper weights. The traction on the grip is great for heavy lifting. The best part are the handles. Unlike other bars, they are not fixed. It has plenty of foot space for me. Quality product.

I've used this a few times. I'll know better if this was a good purchase, say, in 6 months. I wonder if there should be small medium and large sizes as I am small sized and do reach out to use the bar. Will this have negative impact on my fitness in time? Sure beats a straight bar for lifting heavy weights!

The handle moves to suit everyone’s size, feels sturdy. So far so good hopefully it lasts a while

The package was pretty beat up but no damage to the Trap Bar. And oh so much easier and better for doing squats. With Front or Back Barbell Squats, you have to balance to keep from falling forwards or backwards and hurting yourself. With a Trap Bar, if you lose your balance you just open you hands and drop the bar. It only falls a few inches - instead of a few feet with conventional squats. It's nice to be CENTERED in the weights instead of pulling up a barbell in front of you. A LOT LESS stress and strain on your back.

Does not require a lot of space

Good sturdy durable easy to use. Good for shrugs and deadlifts and farmers carry and more. Fits the smaller holes of commercial weights instead of the Olympic size. Wear gloves if you use it though the grips move a bit to make it easier on your wrists and can rub against your hands.

Fits "standard" plates. Good value

Having backpain when using straight bar for deadlift for almost 2 months. Did all the tiutorials for proper deadlift on youtube still having backpain. Tried this bar... holycrap it was so easy even went 90lbs each side. Should have bought it when it was on sale last month for $10 less. Best investment ever for my home gym.

Wow this came in fast!! Good sized trap bar for smaller people. Got it past my posterior anyway. At first it felt heavy. But with two hands and you inside the trap its fairly light. I was wondering whether I would need to add weights or not. Yes you do. I love the handles on this which provides a really nice comfort level when bending and lifting as they move with you. If you are a smaller person they will angle more towards you instead of being a fixed position that won't angle towards you. The knurling is excellent and finish is great. No rust or broken welds. In fact the welds on this thing were envious. I ordered the standard 1" black bar since it looked better to me and I have a ton of plates already standard sized. It is substantial for sure. Its weight attests to that. ALL steel material and SOLID. Paint finish was impeccable. There is no assembly other than taking the spring clips on or off to change plates. I love this bar and can't wait to add it to my legs day. I need to see what other exercises I can do with it down the road too.

I was looking for a hex bar that I could use with my non-Olympic plates (1” hole). This one was reasonably priced and I like that the handle rotates. It seems to put less stress on my hands. The bar is very well made. The only thing to note is that the bar is a little less than 1” diameter. I only noticed this because the clamps I use on other bars will not clamp down on this bar. It comes with clamps that work so it is not really an issue.

This is a very nice bar. I use it for Romanian dead lifts, squats and farmer carries. It seems to have made some of the exercises easier on my lower back. It is well made and finished. The clips to hold the weights on the bar work well. The only negative is the shipper that they use. Not much info on progress of your shipment or where it is or when it will arrive. If you don’t care about that, it seems like a good purchase.

I purchased this to use with -the 1 inch conventional plates- Built like a tank 800lb capacity. Quality knurled handles, heavy duty capacity weighing 35 pounds. Hex/Trap bar shopping starts and ends here, the searching is over buy this. God bless you, thanks for reading.

Well packaged. I like the way I have the option of high or low grips without turning the whole thing over. Just grab the handle you want and lift. I highly recommend this trap bar.

I'm very impressed by this trap bar. It seemed impossible to find one for standard plates, then I saw this. Mine weighs 35.5 lbs, I hadn't done dead's in awhile, and got to 355 today, and the bar felt great. I don't see any issues going above 400 (I wont get anywhere close to testing the 800lb capacity, but if you have enough 50lb plates, you could do it). I used my own quick release clips that I got off Amazon vs the included spring clips. I didn't use the rotating handles, as being 5'10", that means there isn't much range of motion as they sit pretty high, but good for partials or shrugs. The knurling is a bit aggressive, but if you lift regularly without gloves, you wont really notice it once you get going, and your hands will be no worse for wear. All in all, very happy with purchase.
